Filipino Social club of Geelong Independence cabaret
While the atmosphere may have been cold outside, inside the action was hot on the dance floor for the annual Filipino Social club of Geelong Independence cabaret last night which was held at the White Eagle House.
People came from as far as the United States, Philippines and Hong Kong to take part in this celebratory event and they certainly weren’t disappointed.
A great turnout of party goers were entertained to traditional Filipino dancing, great music courtesy of the DJ, and a raffle and auction to finish the night off. MC, Jimmy kept the formalities flowing throughout the night while the bar staff kept up the liquid refreshments up for the thirsty dancers.
The traditional Filipino dancing is something to see as club members flow through the movements with grace and precision demonstrating to the audience such dances as Subli, Pandanggo sa Ilaw and Tinikling. Participation from the audience with assistance from the professionals, Taylor and Jeff in the last dance allowed us the see the skill involved when performing this dance which involves fast moving bamboo poles.
The night finished up around midnight with many looking forward to the next cabaret as a great night to let their hair down and kick their heels up. See you there!
