Miss Cleopatra! Fashion pharaoh!
My story – What a fantastic event!
Allow me to introduce myself I am Miss Cleopatra Portman (formerly Miss Alley Kat). Miss Ballarat Beat was my first ever pinup competition. I decided to participate because I love everything vintage especially the clothes and the cars. My passion for the 1950s scene started through cars as I am a tragic car buff owing a few vintage cars.
Although I did not know what to expect on the day, the competition was a great experience. I was a bit nervous, but it was great to get up on stage and strut my stuff. What I particularly liked about the show was the three dress themes – beach wear, day wear and evening wear. My favourite theme was probably the evening wear, as I love the dresses from that era and the other girls looked beautiful.
Another great feature of the competition was the other participants and Miss Ruby! Miss Ruby was our “manager”. She was amazing and did a superb job organising us girls. Throughout the day, all the girls were so helpful and I have made some lovely friends which I am sure I will see at future shows and competitions.
I can’t wait till next years Miss Ballarat Beat.
